purchased this card to save a few $$$ over the Netgear/Belkin/DLink card. did the routine trouble shooting of the router, the firewall, the antivirus, the system settings, etc etc.it had to be the card. the NETGEAR adapter.*WORKS FLAWLESSLY*. on fresh startups/reboots the card would find the network and connect somewhat sluggishly. i also read online about firmware issues with this particular TRENDNET model. if the computer sat idle long enough to get to the screen saver (15 min) the card would just stop working. the card itself installed easily, but it just didn't work. took it back, and paid the $10 more for the NETGEAR WG311 54Mbps Wireless-G PCI Adapter.
it would say that it was connected to the internet, but nothing would come through. also had this problem when bringing the computer back from sleep/hibernation modes. (although i don't particularly care for their connection management software). buyer beware.card was installed on a system w/ a fresh WINXP SP2 installAMD X4 9950 Black / 4GB RAM
I was very pleased that this card worked out of the box for Linux. Installation was as simple as unpackaging it and plugging it into my system. As an added bonus the card supports monitor mode allowing you to use programs like Kismet to their fullest abilities.
This is a lousy wifi adapter. Vague, confusion instructions. Do not buy. Terrible range; my laptop does fine and my router is at the other end of my whole-floor brownstone apartment, that's probably over 70 ft away with 2 plaster walls in between. There are 64-bit adapters available. 4 bars consistently. I barely got to this page on it. Nothing but a waste of time.
This can rarely get above 2 bars. Constantly loses connection - cancelled downloads ahoy. Especially if you were trying to use it on Windows 7 like me. I am returning this as it is effectively broken, and trying one of those.
What was nice about this besides getting it in only 2 days, is that there is support in linux for the adapter and it worked right out of the box.
Used this with an Abit KG7 mobo.Card locks up the computer at completely random intervals. I've gone to the vendor's website and grabbed the latest updates & drivers. No help. The install instructions mention not using Windows zero wireless configuration but the included programs make no provision for connecting to secure networks. You may be able to use it with an unsecured network if you're sure all of your neighbors like you well enough that they won't poach your connection to send death threats to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
